Cole Hamels, LHP (3-3, 3.10) Phillies (20-16) @ Pat Misch, LHP (0-0, 5.40)
Giants (14-21)
Scouting Report:
Phillies: Hamels acknowledged mistakes in his last outing against San Francisco, in which he allowed four runs in six innings, though he left the game with the score tied. On nights when Hamels is on, he's unhittable, and he'll need to be on against Giants ace Tim Lincecum. Hamels is 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA in three career outings vs. the Giants.
Giants: Misch is still looking for his first Major League victory. He saw his ERA blow up from 3.00 to 5.40, after a pair of two-run homers he surrendered against the Phillies' Chase Utley and Pedro Feliz in a no-decision on May 2, at Citizens Bank Park. Misch lasted just four innings against the Phils, giving up five hits and striking out two.
Saturday, May 10 AT&T Park | 1:05 PM PT
Jamie Moyer, LHP (2-2, 4.15) Phillies (20-16) @ Tim Lincecum, RHP (4-1, 1.49) Giants (14-21)
Scouting Report:
Phillies: Moyer danced his way around a dangerous and aggressive lineup of young Diamondbacks hitters to secure his second win of the season. Despite throwing nearly 12 miles and hour than opponent Max Scherzer, Moyer limited the NL West leading D-Backs to two runs in seven innings. He is 4-5 with a 2.73 ERA in 10 career outings vs. San Francisco.
Giants: Lincecum received a no-decision in his last start, on May 4 against Philadelphia. He gave up four runs -- all unearned -- but he didn't help himself very much over six innings, though his ERA dropped from 1.73 to 1.49. Lincecum threw two wild pitches in the fifth that led to a pair of Philadelphia runs. He struck out five and walked two. It marked the third time this year Lincecum didn't surrender an earned run.
Sunday, May 11 AT&T Park | 1:05 PM PT
Adam Eaton, RHP (0-1, 5.63) Phillies (20-16) @ Jonathan Sanchez, LHP (2-2, 4.74) Giants (14-21)
Scouting Report:
Phillies: The Phillies are praying that Eaton hasn't regressed back to 2007, when he compiled a 6.29 ERA. The right-hander began the season with three quality outings, but has posted a 7.23 in his past four starts. His big mistake on May 6 occurred on a bases-loaded, four-pitch walk to Randy Johnson, the first run of a five-run inning. Eaton can't seem to stay away from crucial lapses.
Giants: Complaining of a flat mound at Pittsburgh's PNC Park that forced him to elevate his pitches last Tuesday, Sanchez allowed six hits and seven runs in 4 1/3 innings in a 12-6 loss. It was his worst outing since his 2008 debut on April 4, when he yielded seven runs in four innings at Milwaukee. Between those two performances, the Giants won all five of Sanchez's starts as he posted a 2-0 record with a 1.82 ERA.
After the Bear's last pre-series post I think I will say nothing. Your thoughts?
