Friday, May 9 AT&T Park | 7:15 PM PT

Cole Hamels, LHP (3-3, 3.10) Phillies (20-16) @ Pat Misch, LHP (0-0, 5.40)
Giants (14-21)

Scouting Report:

Phillies: Hamels acknowledged mistakes in his last outing against San Francisco, in which he allowed four runs in six innings, though he left the game with the score tied. On nights when Hamels is on, he's unhittable, and he'll need to be on against Giants ace Tim Lincecum. Hamels is 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA in three career outings vs. the Giants.

Giants: Misch is still looking for his first Major League victory. He saw his ERA blow up from 3.00 to 5.40, after a pair of two-run homers he surrendered against the Phillies' Chase Utley and Pedro Feliz in a no-decision on May 2, at Citizens Bank Park. Misch lasted just four innings against the Phils, giving up five hits and striking out two.

Saturday, May 10 AT&T Park | 1:05 PM PT

Jamie Moyer, LHP (2-2, 4.15) Phillies (20-16) @ Tim Lincecum, RHP (4-1, 1.49) Giants (14-21)

Scouting Report:

Phillies: Moyer danced his way around a dangerous and aggressive lineup of young Diamondbacks hitters to secure his second win of the season. Despite throwing nearly 12 miles and hour than opponent Max Scherzer, Moyer limited the NL West leading D-Backs to two runs in seven innings. He is 4-5 with a 2.73 ERA in 10 career outings vs. San Francisco.

Giants: Lincecum received a no-decision in his last start, on May 4 against Philadelphia. He gave up four runs -- all unearned -- but he didn't help himself very much over six innings, though his ERA dropped from 1.73 to 1.49. Lincecum threw two wild pitches in the fifth that led to a pair of Philadelphia runs. He struck out five and walked two. It marked the third time this year Lincecum didn't surrender an earned run.

Sunday, May 11 AT&T Park | 1:05 PM PT

Adam Eaton, RHP (0-1, 5.63) Phillies (20-16) @ Jonathan Sanchez, LHP (2-2, 4.74) Giants (14-21)

Scouting Report:

Phillies: The Phillies are praying that Eaton hasn't regressed back to 2007, when he compiled a 6.29 ERA. The right-hander began the season with three quality outings, but has posted a 7.23 in his past four starts. His big mistake on May 6 occurred on a bases-loaded, four-pitch walk to Randy Johnson, the first run of a five-run inning. Eaton can't seem to stay away from crucial lapses.

Giants: Complaining of a flat mound at Pittsburgh's PNC Park that forced him to elevate his pitches last Tuesday, Sanchez allowed six hits and seven runs in 4 1/3 innings in a 12-6 loss. It was his worst outing since his 2008 debut on April 4, when he yielded seven runs in four innings at Milwaukee. Between those two performances, the Giants won all five of Sanchez's starts as he posted a 2-0 record with a 1.82 ERA.

After the Bear's last pre-series post I think I will say nothing. Your thoughts?

After that sorry road trip the Giants just had perhaps some home cooking can get them back on track.

Perhaps. Or maybe, just maybe April was the mirage we all think it was.

We suck.

No, but close, very close. Giants lose 7-4 tonight. I was at the game, and it was the first, and I hope the last time I see Pat Misch start. He is a good batting practice pitcher. No better, and no worse, but he is not a ML starting pitcher on any club.:nono:

Well let me start with Misch. They need to get him as far away from the rest of the pitchers so they don't catch what he has which is no talent.

Lewis is a major talent who I believe has to play every day. Future All-Star. Emmanuel Burriss looks like he maybe the real deal. Too soon to be sure, but has lots of talent. Not sure about his brain. Eugenio Velez is the example of the million dollar talent with the ten cent brain. I have questions as to his mental abilities to be a ML player. He just does not think on the field. Everyone else on the field was a veteran.

Hold the presses. The giants defeat the Phillies 8-2! The giants scored 8 runs?! And Lincecum goes 8 innings, 2 ERs, 8 Ks, 1 BB. He's now 5-1. Can Lincecum possible win 17 games with this mediocre club? At this point he'll be our only All-Star rep. :)

Giants win today 8-2 behind Tim Lincecum who is now 5-1 with an ERA of 1.61. This is the Giants future wrapped up in one player. He is the REAL deal the whole ball of wax. If he is not the #1 on the Giants staff for the next 15 plus years that their will be no justice. Omar returned to the Giants line-up and went 3-5 so he had a great game also. All in all the Giants played as well today as they played bad last night.:beerbang:

I think the question is can he win 20?:D

Linecum is turing into a god. 1.61 ERA? Wow. Impressive.

Matt Cain needs to get this shit together. He's better than he's showing but maybe he has caught the dreaded "Giants disease"...

If Lincecum wins 20 with this team he's the Cy Young Award winner for sure. It would be about time. I still don't get how the S.F. Giants have one stinkin' CYA winner in 50 years? Shoot the D'Backs have FIVE Cy Young Award winners since 1999!

I think the problem might be he is not reacting well to not being the Giants #1 whizz kid. He is trying so hard to be better than Linecum that he not being himself.;)

That' not good. If Cain just relaxes and trust his outstanding stuff he can dominate like Lincecum can. We all know he can. We saw it last April and later during the season. I've been wondering what kind of personal relationship they have with each other? They are the same age with Lincecum beign a few months older.

You forget Mike McCormick. There was a great pitcher when he was right.

That's who I was referring to, the 1967 Cy Young Award winner.

Enjoyed the day out at the park with my kid today. Lincecum looked great against a VERY tough middle of the Phillies order w/ Utley, Howard and Burrell. Great to see Omar back and looks like he is moving as gracefully as ever.

Lincecum gives the team a chance every time out. You can't ask for more then that. As I have said all along he is the Giants future.:beerbang:

Giants defeat the Phillies 4-3. Sanchez's control problems continue. He walked five in 4 1/3 innings today and only struck out two. Sanchez needs to work on his control. :o

The key here is the Giants win. Any time the Giants win a series from a team like the Phillies they are doing something right!:beerbang:

Yes the Giants beating Philadelphia in a series is big news.

I think that Philly team is pretty darn good.
