I have been a fan of the Giants since 1958 when I went to the first opening day game at Seals Stadium. I have seen in person every player who has played for the Giants since they came to the city by the bay. My big hope is to see them win one World Series before I die.

One more thing that I feel you need to know. Please do not hold it against me. I am a life long friend of the Kid. So when you see us banter you will know where that comes from.

I got a private message request from Bear to respond to this thread... so here goes...

1. Location: Portland, OR

(I grew up in Newark, CA and moved up here in 1994. One of my greatest regrets about leaving the Bay Area is the lack of baseball coverage in Portland.)

2. Approximate age: 39

(Yikes. The big 4-0 in October!)

3. Favorite current Giant: who else, Tim Lincecum

(though I'm hoping that Sandoval, Posey or some other prospect will be great enough to equal him! I'd love to be able to list three or four names in a year or two.)

4. Favorite former Giant: look at my username, definitely Will "The Thrill" Clark

4. Favorite all-time player: Moonlight Graham

5. Other sports teams you follow: umm, maybe the AAA Portland Beavers?

(I don't really "follow" the Beavers, but I try to make it to at least a couple of games a year. If you're NOT a Portland Trailblazers fan around here, there's nothing but sagebrush rolling around. People are nuts about their Ducks up here, too, but I'm not much of a college football fan.)

6. How you found this place: McCovey, a 20-year friend, told me about it

7. Anything else you wish to share:

I just got married in July, my new wife and I are planning on having a family soon. I recently went back to school to get another degree, my old career wasn't working out.

I grew up a Giants fan, was going to games since I was a toddler. (My Dad was living in San Francisco, 13 years old, when the Giants moved here from NY in '58, and he hooked me on the same addiction to the Giants that he had!) I collect SF Giants Topps baseball cards, and have almost every single one. Complete sets from 1969 and up, and most of the cards the previous years going back to '52. My oldest complete team set is the '54 set.

Like Bear and the Kid, I would love the Giants to win the world series sometime before I die. I'm so excited about this season (not that I think they have a chance in hell of winning the series THIS year), that I just signed up for the MLB.TV Premium package... the only way I can see any games up here.

Hopefully everybody got my "Field of Dreams" reference, above, awesome movie. Moonlight Graham was a real person who played one inning of MLB and never had an AB. Look him up!

1. Location: Chico, CA
2. Approximate age:40
3. Favorite current Giant: Pablo ( if he was born in the U.S., he would be playing football)
4. Favorite former Giant: Will and J.T. ( Just all around great players and good guys)
4. Favorite all-time player: Willie McCovey
5. Other sports teams you follow: 49ers
6. How you found this place: I think it was off of Pro Sports Daily
7. Anything else you wish to share: I don't remember when I actually became a fan, but I have hated the Dodgers for as long. I am enjoying my first managers job for my son's Little League team. I had a choice of minor league teams, so I chose the Volcanoes (Salem Kaiser short A for the Giants). I try and get to at least 3 games a year, but what or listen to nearly everyone of them. I have a very understanding wife who lets me get my fill of baseball. I love April, May,.....September, and even October.

SF Kid...

Yes, living in NYC was no bargain basement experience (I had good years, and some very lean ones, too). But take it from me - living in Connecticut is no Nickel and Dime proposition, either!

Best Regards...

Only a hardcore Giants fan would even remember that Hayes came up through the Giants minor league system. :) He only played 10 games for the Giants before he was traded to the Phillies in 1989. He did play later two seasons with the Giants in 1998-99.

I am ex-USAF, I just this past May came out after quite a few years service (mainly posted overseas) when my wife got sick, but she's doing OK. Planning on setting up a private plane-hire company with a friend, but been watching a lot of Giants baseball all summer, even though it's quite a drive down to SF. Nice looking forum anyway, I guarantee to stay active so long as there's something going on here! Never expected our team to compete this year, I had us down for maybe 2010-2011 coming good. Praying we can push the Rockies all the way to that final wild card slot. So see you fellas around, GO GIANTS!!
