Is Villalona the only up and coming power hitting prospect the Giants have in the System?? I know a few guys had decent power numbers in the minors but I am curious if any are "expected" to translate into MLB power.

Nate Shierholtz could be a 25 HR/45 doubles kind of of hitter. But Villalona is the Giants only "pure" power hitting prospect that I am aware of.

With Nates swing I just wish they would trade Winn and let this man play!! Is it possible for them to put Nate at 1st and not trade for a 1st or 3rd basemen? I know anything is possible, is this a scenario they have looked at?

Most of us here at SFGF are dumbfounded by Giant management's apparent low view of Natey Nate. I've posted four years of scouting reports from Baseball America and they are much higher on Shierholtz than the Giants are.

Where are those posted? I think I read them a few days ago but dont remember where to find them. When does the next Prospect guide hit shelves?

I am hoping Rowand just had an off year and can repeat 07 or get close. Winn is similar to a few of their other players, at least I believe he is. So I agree with that.

Rowand will never repeat his fluke '07 season. The Phillies home ballpark is a very good HR ballpark and Rowand had Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins, and Pat Burrell in the lineup with him. Do the Giant have any hitters remotely like those Phillies hitters?
I say trade Rowand, and play Winn in center field with Nate in right field. Thats the ticket.

Well, maybe they could if they trade Cain.It takes good pitches and a good eye to hit homers. Last I checked he was the one swinging the bat, not the folks you mentioned.

Trade them both, neither of them are making the team much better.

Except for two things
1) AT&T Park is a very poor HR hitting ballpark compared to the Phillies home ballpark.
2) With great hitters around him in Philly he saw many more fastballs.

Maybe it looks like a power outage of a ballpark because Bonds has been the only real power hitter they have had in a long time. ;)
