What up Fellow Giants fans. My name is Andrew and I am currently a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia. I've been out here since 2006, but just recently found this message board, and decided to register. I'm sorry in advance if my messages are short and sporadic; most of my posts will happen on my cell phone, and tapping a lot out gets old. In any event, I look forward to jabbering with all of you and hope you can also provide the much needed baseball talk I'm lacking in my life at the moment. One more thing, sorry if I appear a bit behind. I feel like I've done a good job following our youth movement, but don't know all that much. I was home in August and that was the first time I had ever seen Tim Lincecum pitch. I know names and stats, but that's pretty much it. Hope this is the place to get up to speed. Take care.

Welcome "Nen31" to SFGF. Tell us a little about yourself and how you found us on the net? Enjoy yourself and remember we have only one BIG rule. Post often and remain active. :)

Andrew, tell us about your time in the Peace Corps. How did you get involved, and how did you end up in Zambia? Other questions I have are how long will you be there, and what will you do when you return? I really admire you for doing this, and would like to learn more. :beerbang:

Hey guys. Thanks for the reply. I've been in the Peace Corps since January '06, my first two years as a Rural Education volunteer, my third year extension as a Provincial Coordinator. Things have been great out here, seeing a new culture and traveling in a part of the world I would have never thought I'd visit. Tried to teach baseball to my village kids but all our equipment broke. The rules were kind of tough to teach from scratch, but they loved hitting at least. It's been tough without baseball especially cause every volunteer seems to like Boston these days, who I hate more than all the others, but you take what you can get, I guess. Really tough too cause I've missed this whole youth movement, but do assure that my allegiance to the Giants has not faded, if anything it's gotten stronger. Was home just this past August and attended 7 games to make up for lost time...3 at Dodger Stadium (sorry guys it's my home town field), one at Angels Stadium, 2 at Yankee Stadium (had to see it before it was goners), and one at Shea. Then hit Cooperstown...a MUST for any serious baseball fan. Anyway. Good to see the Giants are being aggressive right out of the gates. Does anyone know which free agents require the Giants to surrender draft picks, and how that all even works. I understand sandwich picks, but not under what conditions a team needs to give them up. That clarification would be great. Thanks. Good to talk ball with you guys. I'll be around. Take care.

Welcome Nen31, Maybe you will be able to turn your peers from the dark side, which btw is any side that isnt Giants, you seem to have the time. What all do you do over there?
