What do you consider the most important pitching stats, and why?
What do you consider the least important pitching stats, and why?
These are things we need to know about each other so we can understand the point of view of each poster!

I look at K/9, BB/9, K/BB.
i don't really look at wins and losses since these stats are so team dependent. Just ask Matt Cain. :rolleyes:

An out is an out. As nice as strikouts are, they don't mean very much. I think that ERA is the most important stats. You could be a pitcher with not such great stuff but find a way to get outs and not allow runs and you'll be considered good.

More strikouts mean less batted balls in play means less chances of potential hits and errors. Sometimes its tough to compare ERA because you may have one pitcher who pitches in Coors Field and another that pitchers in Petco Park.
