With Omar Vizquel's average down to .156 after a 1-for-22 trip, it was a matter of time before he would have to cede starts at shortstop to Emmanuel Burriss. Vizquel made the decision a little easier by giving manager Bruce Bochy his blessing.

"I told him, if he really needs to bench me more and play Manny, I'm fine. It's OK with me," Vizquel said before Monday's game against the Cubs. "I have to wait for my time and things to come back to me."
Bochy confirmed a meeting with Vizquel on Sunday and expects to play Burriss more, and not only against left-handed starters such as Monday's Cubs starter, Ted Lilly.

"There'll be times Manny gets starts (against right-handers)," Bochy said.

"We'll see how Omar is doing. Manny got a couple of at-bats from the left side and got a couple of hits. But we still have a great shortstop out there in Omar. He's out here hitting early and working on it. We're confident he's going to be fine."

Father Time catches up with all of us. Omar is 41 . He knows he can't hit anymore at the major league level. Hopefully, the Giants will hire Omar somewhere in the organization.

He would make a great coach, and maybe someday a manager!:beerbang:

I remember reading article a while back about Omar wanting to be a major league manager one day. I'll see if I can track the article down.
