Greg Maddux, RHP (3-4, 3.76) Padres (21-34) @ Matt Cain, RHP (2-3, 4.43) Giants (23-31)
Scouting Report:
Padres: Maddux left in the sixth inning with a lead on Sunday but wound up with a no-decision against the Reds in a game won by the Padres in 18 innings. Maddux allowed four runs, but only one earned run. He gave up six hits and walked three batters for only the second time this season. One of the walks was intentional. He threw 89 pitches with 54 for strikes and should have got out of the fifth inning when Scott Hairston dropped a fly ball that would have been the third out. Instead, Maddux gave up a two-run homer to Adam Dunn. Maddux beat the Giants earlier this season and has a lifetime 29-14 record against them and is 7-1 at AT & T Park.
Giants: Cain picked up a no-decision in his last start on Sunday against the Marlins. The 23-year-old scattered two runs on five hits while striking out six, as the Giants lost both games of the doubleheader at Dolphin Stadium. Cain was scheduled to pitch on Saturday's rainout and threw 20 pitches in the bullpen. Right before the game, manager Bruce Bochy made Cain the Game 2 starter -- instead of Game 1, as he originally planned -- to give his righty extra rest. Cain said he wasn't at all set back by the mixed-up schedule leading up to his start. He is now 1-1 with a 4.46 ERA in May.

Josh Banks, RHP (1-0, 0.00) Padres (21-34) @ Pat Misch, LHP (0-1, 6.54) Giants (23-31)
Scouting Report:
Padres: Banks will get his first start for the Padres. He had one start with the Blue Jays last year. He pitched six scoreless innings Sunday in the Padres 18-inning victory over the Reds and earned his first Major League win. He tosses two scoreless innings in his Padre debut the night before. He was recalled from Triple-A Portland on May 22. He was 2-1 with a 5.52 ERA with 16 strikeouts and in 12 relief appearances for the Beavers.
Giants: Misch got in trouble early, and was never able to bounce back during his last start Sunday against the Marlins -- Game 1 of a doubleheader after Saturday's contest was postponed. Misch got into full counts with the first three hitters he faced and gave up three runs in the bottom of the first. Misch's situation didn't get any better as the game wore on. The 26-year-old lefty left after 4 1/3 innings in which he gave up seven runs -- including three home runs -- off seven hits while walking and striking out four.
Sunday, June 1 AT&T Park | 1:05 PM PT
Randy Wolf, LHP (3-4, 4.59) Padres (21-34) @ Tim Lincecum, RHP (7-1, 2.33) Giants (23-31)
Scouting Report:
Padres: Wolf got a no-decision in his last outing against the Nationals, in which he allowed two runs on seven hits in six innings. He walked none and struck out five and allowed just a two-run homer to Aaron Boone in the first inning. He had a no decision against the Giants back on April 8 when he allowed two runs on five hits in six innings. The Padres lost that game, 2-1. He has tossed at least six innings in nine of his 11 outings. He snapped a personal four game losing streak beating the Reds, 8-2 on May 22 when he allowed four hits and two runs in seven innings.
Giants: Lincecum strengthened his All-Star candidacy by besting Arizona's Dan Haren, last year's starter for the American League in the Midsummer Classic, in a 6-3 decision last Tuesday. Working on two extra days' rest due to scheduled off days, Lincecum led 6-1 when he was removed with one out in the eighth inning. He ultimately was charged with three runs and six hits. Although Lincecum's ERA has risen in four consecutive starts, he has proven to be tough with runners in scoring position. He limited the D-Backs to one hit in six at-bats in such situations.
The Bear sees a 2-1 series win for the Giants. At what point do the Giants stop running Pat Misch out there? When I see his name all I see is a loss!
